Erasmus in Andalucía programme

Erasmus in Andalucía: Prepare for Real Life in Southern Spain

Your Erasmus starts here. Not when you land.

You got the email. You screamed. You maybe cried a little (happy crying, obviously).

You were on top of the world, but then, 48 hours later, a quieter voice showed up.

What if my Spanish isn’t good enough for real life? What if I get there and I don’t fit in? What if I end up in a bubble of English speakers and waste the whole semester? What if I’m lonely?

That voice is normal. It means you actually care about making this experience everything it should be.

And that voice is exactly why this programme exists.

Here's the thing nobody tells you

Here’s what nobody tells you before starting your Erasmus in Andalucía: the gap between classroom Spanish and real life in Andalucía is bigger than you think. Not because your Spanish is bad, but because Andalucía doesn’t just speak university Spanish.

Andalusians drop letters, merge words and speak at 200mph. It will make you wonder if you ever learned Spanish at all. Students who have studied for three, four, five years arrive and struggle to understand what people are saying to them in the first weeks (spoiler: I’ve been there…)

Most Erasmus students figure this out the hard way. Many spend their whole semester saying they’ll “put themselves out there next week”, never quite breaking through.

This programme exists so that doesn’t happen to you.

This isn’t just a Spanish programme – it’s your Erasmus support system. A place to prepare before you leave, navigate the reality once you arrive and connect with other students who are figuring it all out alongside you. Think of it as having an “Andalusian big sister” in your corner and a group of people to do Erasmus with from day one.

Anna's story: from nervous arrival to confident andaluza

What's inside?

🍊 Bite-sized lessons built around real Andalusian life

Forget homework and revision timetables. These short, practical lessons fit around exams, goodbyes, weekend trips and spontaneous terrace plans. They’re designed to prepare you for real life in Andalucía, not feel like more uni work.

🪭 Weekly small-group coaching sessions

A space to ask questions, practise, reflect, celebrate wins and work through the things that are coming up in your Erasmus experience or are already happening to you. Small groups (maximum 4-6 students).

🍋 The private Erasmus online community

Ask questions, share discoveries, find flatmates and friends, organise trips, make plans, celebrate wins, vent after awkward conversations, swap recommendations, build genuine connections with people who just get it… the list goes on!

🧡 Ongoing support from someone who's been there

Guidance, encouragement and personalised feedback from your coach Anna who’s lived the Erasmus experience and understands the ups, downs and “what on earth is happening?” moments that come with it.

This programme is for you if:

🍋 You have a solid base in Spanish and you’re heading to Andalucía on Erasmus

🍋 You want to integrate: make real local friends, understand the culture from the inside, feel genuinely at home

🍋 You’re nervous about the gap between your classroom Spanish and real spoken Spanish

🍋 You want a support system, a community and a friendly face before you even leave

🍋 You want someone in your corner who has lived exactly this experience

🍋 You’re ready to get involved, try new things and make the most of your Erasmus experience

This programme is NOT for you if:

✗ You’re a complete beginner or can’t yet hold a basic conversation in Spanish

✗ You’re not coming to the south of Spain on Erasmus

✗ You’re not particularly interested in integrating or you’re happy to socialise mostly in English

✗ You’re looking for a traditional Spanish grammar course or classes

✗ You’re looking for passive learning or a quick fix

✗ You’re not open to being coached, challenged or stepping outside your comfort zone

You only get ONE Erasmus

This is about changing how you experience and use the Spanish you already have through coaching, real interaction and cultural immersion rooted in life in Andalucía.

You’ll probably never have this exact mix of freedom, excitement, possibility and opportunity again.

You deserve to experience it fully. Not from the sidelines, not wishing you’d been braver, not waiting until your final month to finally put yourself out there.

From the very beginning.

So… what’s the next step?

If you’ve read this far, something in you already knows this matters.

The students who make the most of their Erasmus aren’t the ones with the best grammar. They’re the ones who integrate themselves (socially, culturally and linguistically) from day one.

If you’re ready to make the most of your Erasmus in Andalucía…

In this 20 minute session, we’ll...

🍊 Talk about where you are with your Spanish and what’s worrying you most

🍊 Map out what a confident, integrated Erasmus experience actually looks like for you

🍊 See honestly whether this programme is the right fit

This isn’t a vague chat. It’s a focused, honest conversation designed to give you clarity and a plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not in the traditional sense. This isn’t a grammar-heavy course or a series of textbook-style classes. The programme is designed to help you bridge the gap between the Spanish you’ve already learned and real life in Andalucía through practical preparation, coaching, community and cultural immersion. You’ll build confidence with authentic Andalusian Spanish while learning how to navigate the realities of Erasmus life.

You’ll need a conversational foundation in Spanish to get the most out of the programme. You don’t need perfect grammar or native-level fluency, but you should be able to hold a basic conversation and participate in group discussions and activities. If you’re unsure whether your level is suitable, book an Erasmus Game Plan Session and we can chat it through together.

No, and I would never promise that because it’s not possible. Fluency isn’t built overnight. What this programme can do is help you feel significantly more prepared, confident and connected as you begin or continue your Erasmus experience, giving you practical tools and support that allow you to participate more fully in life here from the very beginning.

Absolutely! In fact, many students join before they leave so they can arrive feeling more prepared and confident. The programme will help you understand what to expect linguistically, culturally and socially, so you’re not caught off guard during those first few weeks.

Many students realise they need support once they’ve actually arrived and experienced the reality of fast-paced Andalusian Spanish and settling into a new environment. Whether you’re preparing to leave or already here, the programme is designed to meet you where you are.

Most students won’t. In fact, that’s often one of the reasons they join. The community is designed to help you connect with other students before and during your Erasmus, whether that’s asking questions, sharing recommendations, finding people to explore with or simply having people who understand exactly what you’re experiencing. Many students arrive knowing at least a few familiar names and faces, which can make those first weeks feel much less overwhelming.

Yes! That’s a huge part of why this programme exists. Alongside language and cultural support, you’ll join an online community of other Erasmus students, where you can ask questions, share experiences, organise plans, swap recommendations and support each other throughout your time in Andalucía. Many students find that this sense of community becomes one of the most valuable parts of the experience.

Yes. Everything inside the programme is tailored specifically to life in Andalucía – from the accent and local expressions to cultural nuances and everyday situations you’ll actually encounter here.

Not at all. The programme is open to students heading anywhere in Andalucía. Whether you’re studying in Málaga, Córdoba, Jaén, Almería, Huelva, Sevilla, Granada or Cádiz, you’ll still experience many of the same accent features, cultural nuances and adjustment challenges that come with living in the south of Spain. Wherever your Erasmus takes you in Andalucía, the goal is the same: helping you feel more confident, connected and prepared to make the most of it.

I completely understand. The last thing I wanted to create was something that felt like “more studying” after months of lectures, assignments and exams. That’s why this programme is designed differently. The lessons are short, practical and flexible, so they fit around your life rather than taking it over. The focus is on preparing you for the experience you’re about to have (or helping you make the most of the one you’re already in), through real-life Spanish, community and support. Think less “another university course” and more “having a big sister in your corner as you navigate Erasmus in Andalucía.”

The programme last 6 weeks and is intentionally designed to fit around real life. The bite-sized lessons can be completed at your own pace, and you’ll attend one live small-group session each week. This isn’t designed to feel like “more university work” – it’s practical, flexible and created to support your Erasmus experience, not take over it.

Most programmes focus on logistics or generic Spanish lessons. This programme combines authentic Andalusian Spanish, cultural preparation, small-group coaching and an ongoing community designed specifically for students coming to southern Spain. It’s about helping you make the most of your Erasmus – not just survive it.
